Moving right along in this bridge project, we had the chance to sneak out in between rain clouds this weekend to explore the Sellwood neighborhood and the Sellwood bridge! This truss bridge was built in 1925 and links the Sellwood and Westmoreland neighborhoods. It is easily the busiest two-lane bridge in Oregon and has been seriously deteriorating since the 1960's. This bridge is due for a remodel in the year 2012 if enough money can be collected. Certainly not the most stunning bridge in Portland... but there is a lot of history here and many people use this bridge on a daily basis. A very important part of Portland.
