I am absolutely thrilled to have had the chance to photograph the incredibly talented Samantha Ferraro of The Little Ferraro Kitchen who just came out with her first cookbook this year: The Weeknight Mediterranean Kitchen! For those of you who don't have it yet at home, GET ON IT! SI met Sam when she first moved to town and am honored to have been a part of her journey and to watch her grow. She needed some option for a headshot for her book and we had a great time messing up her kitchen! For fabulous, easy and delicious recipes check out her blog and pick up her book!
For months I had been brainstorming ways to photograph some kids in their element of play doing something they already loved to do that involved a series of props. When Leah reached out to me about the Donut Shop that was frequently played in their house- I knew this was the perfect opportunity. These sweet cousins were so excited to play Donut Shop and had no idea that REAL donuts were awaiting them once we'd spent some time getting comfortable together and playing with the set of play donuts they are used to using. They sold donuts to each other, played and stacked and pretended to eat... and then we busted out the goods. Some of my favorite shots from this session are right at the end- faces full of sugar-y goodness and cheers over a table full of their favorite treats.
Do your kids play something together on a regular basis that would be fun to capture? Send me a message and let's savor those sweet memories of play together.
How many of you out there have ever taken fish oil supplements? We’ve heard time and time again they are so good for us, but honestly- they don’t all taste very good. Well, sometimes you get the opportunity to work with a company that is working hard to change the bad wrap fish oil has out there in the world! Barlean’s Omega-3 flavored fish oils are ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. It was a lot of fun to work with this product in acai bowls, yogurt parfaits and smoothies- but in all seriousness, I just eat this stuff right out of the bottle. It’s THAT good. During my time working with Barlean’s we have photographed their fish oils as well as their flax seed oils! We used the flax seed oils to create our own homemade slad dressings. SO easy and so much better for you than the bottled stuff from the store ;)
Check out some Behind the Scenes photos of our workspace in my “home studio” and the final deliverables for this awesome client! You’ll see that iwe had some dappled sunlight coming through during our time together and rather than try to fight it, we went with it! It worked perfectly for the summer feel of this fresh salad shoot and didn’t have the absolutely perfect look of a typical studio session!
We had the chance to spend three full days exploring San Fran with our best friends to celebrate their 30th birthdays and IT WAS AWESOME. We wandered the wharf, ate bread from Boudin and chowder on the pier, got to see the inside of a fancy downtown apartment, shopped the trinkets, laughed our butts off, biked the golden gate bridge with plenty of stops for beer (and breaks because THOSE HILLS THO), hung out in Sausalito, saw Alcatraz from a ferry ride across the bay and had the best time ever. The sunshine even came out to visit on our last day and we all came home with a baby sunburn (worth it).
Thankful for memories like this and the ability to be able to get out and explore new cities. I always come home feeling so refreshed and inspired <3 Hope these few shots make you excited to check out this cool city, too.
Do you live in the Bay Area and love the style of the images? I travel for work all the time and would be delighted to talk with you! Reach out and let's make it happen!
