Last Thursday a great friend of mine came down to visit from the Seattle area.. it just happened to be the most beautiful day all week. We drove out to the waterfalls on I-84 and poked around on the histrocal scenic drive that follows the highway... we stopped and snapped this one near the Vista Point House.
I cannot believe how many beautiful places Portland and the surrounding area has to offer. I am completely blown away. My honey came down to visit this weekend and from the moment he got here until the moment he left we saw some of the most breathtaking historic landmarks, forest and Sooo Manyyy Waterfallsss! We visited the Vista House, the famous 400 foot waterfall just twenty minutes outside of Portland called Multnomah Falls, and Swan Island Dahlia Festival. None of this was more than forty minutes from where I live. To top it all off, we saw Ray Lamontagne play at the Edgefield Winery- owned by the McMenamin brothers. These guys own over 50 differnt bars all over Portland and all the way up to Seattle. They buy old buildings, refurbish them and turn them into bars. This winery is in an old hospital and there is an old elementary school that has been turned into a movie theater, restaurant and pool!
Also fun to note: the neighboorhood close to me is called the Irvington Historical Neighborhood. The homes in this part of town are completely stunning. I found the adorable Bed and Breakfast below just off the corner of 15th and Broadway. It's called Lion and the Rose.
I love this city. Stay tuned for many more photos to come.
